Northern Rockies Physical Therapy (NRPT) is proud to announce Brenna DeMarois as the 2016 Northern Rockies Physical Therapy Scholarship recipient. She is a graduating senior at Sentinel High School and plans to attend Montana Tech and study Biological Sciences.
DeMarois initially planned to study hydrology in college, but an internship with Garden City Harvest working with stroke patients changed her path. “Spending a summer helping recovering patients mobilize and regain their sensory wellness and memory made me realize that I want to help people recapture their sense of self and confidence,” DeMarois said in her winning essay.
Whether taking an independent studies class where she created college level research projects or coaching sixth to ninth grade co-ed soccer, DeMarois has established herself as a leader and mentor. “No matter what I end up doing in life, my education plan will enable me to help those around me, while tapping into my strengths as a researcher, problem-solver and communicator,” she said.
NRPT understands the importance of giving back to the community and is an advocate for higher education. These two factors led to the establishment of the Northern Rockies Physical Therapy Scholarship program which recognizes a local incoming freshman’s demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership and community service. The scholarship is for $1,000 and can be used toward any academic pursuit at any establishment of higher education.
